Location: Atlantic Canada (remote)
Colum Consultants Inc. helps organizations in Atlantic Canada successfully grow through increasing revenue. In this position, you will have the opportunity to meet entrepreneurial innovators across multiple disciplines as you help them access the Science Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program. This is an ideal position for someone making the leap from the lab to consulting.
Reporting to: President and CEO
Duties & Responsibilities:
Understand the SR&ED Investment Tax Credit program and trends in the innovation space across Canada.
Analyze projects and work conducted throughout the year by clients to determine their SR&ED qualification.
Conduct interviews with technical teams to identify technological limitations, challenges, uncertainties, and advancements in projects that fit within the spirit of the SR&ED program.
Prepare SR&ED claim reports in accordance with SR&ED guidelines and standards and templates provided by Colum Consultants Inc.
Work with clients to document SR&ED eligible costs.
Work with other Colum Consultants Inc. team members to ensure clients claims are completed appropriately and within given timelines.
Develop strategies for defending claims to CRA including preparing clients.
Provide a positive experience to our varied clients.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or Applied Sciences
Technical writing experience
Active listener with the ability to conduct technical interviews to gather detailed project information
Ability to grasp abstract or complex technical concepts and explain them in more general terms
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in-person and over the phone)
Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets

Familiarity with other funding models within the innovation sector, eg. IRAP program
Salary Range:
$45,000.00-$55,000.00 annually
